Video game sales fall
Video game sales slumped in the US - their biggest market - in January.  NPD group said stores sold $1.14bn (£720m) worth of games over the month, down 34% on the previous year. It added that hardware sales were down 38%.  The consumer data provider linked the drop to a lack of major new releases.  Other analysts also pointed to worries about the economy and said this might have an impact on the upcoming launch of Sony's PlayStation Vita console.  Microsoft's Xbox 360 held onto its title as the top selling hardware platform for the sixth month running. http://news.bbc.co.uk

Kodak kills off cameras
Kodak has confirmed it will stop selling digital cameras and photo frames as it struggles to turn around its business after filing for bankruptcy protection.  Kodak will halt sales of "capture devices" - such as digital cameras and pocket video cameras, as well as digital frames - in the first half of this year, a move that will help the ailing firm save $100 million a year. http://www.pcpro.co.uk

Teenagers prefer social media to TV
Teenagers now list using social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter as their number one pastime, overtaking watching television, according to a new report.  Sixty-five per cent of the 16-24 year-olds who were polled for the survey, listed talking to their friends via Facebook and Twitter, as their top leisure activity.  The study, which polled 1,300 people across the UK and was conducted by digital marketing agency, Click Consult, found that the appeal of social media was also growing in older age groups, with nearly a third of those aged over 55, logging onto social media sites before switching the TV on. http://www.independent.ie
